Playlist for May 12, 2010

Another Wednesday, another day when I could be performing stand-up comedy. In case you haven't heard about it, there is an open mic comedy event every Wednesday at Vangelis on Broadway. It's generally a good time and I have been meaning to perform a five-minute set for some time, but I always chicken out and use the radio show as an excuse.

Well, since we're all here, let's check out this week's excellent playlist featuring great songs by Born Ruffians, The Sadies, and an amazing new track by LCD Soundsystem to close off the show from their upcoming album This Is Happening. Listen, download, share, and most importantly, please support these artists if you like their stuff.

Playlist:

Shawn Clarke - Behind You [herohill]
Born Ruffians - What to Say
Avi Buffalo - Remember Last Time [yellowstereo]
The Morning Benders - I Wanna Be Like You (Jungle Book cover) [filesavr]

LCD Soundsystem are releasing their final album This Is Happening on May 18. Here's the excellent video for their single "Drunk Girls" which was directed by Spike Jonze.

Here are some cool videos. The first is the music video for the song "What To Say" by Born Ruffians from their upcoming album Say It.

Perennial favourites of the show Sebastien Grainger (formerly of Death From Above) and Josh Reichmann (currently of The Josh Reichmann Oracle Band) have formed a group together, awesomely titled Bad Tits. They're using the familiar aspects of their old music, heavy guitar from Grainger and amazing synth from Reichmann, but they treat them very differently. Through some substantial producing they come up with a new sound that should delight their older fans. Also, the video is wacky and awesome.

Finally, London, ON emcee Shad, has a new album about to be released title TSOL. Yaa, I Get It is the first single from the album, and the video feature Shad roaming the streets in a distinct 99 Problems style.
