Here we go. This week, I am going to give you all a song that is stuck in my head, perhaps permanently. Your Man by Patrick Sweany is an awesome song. It's marketable and I would not be surprised if it was on a commercial within the week. It's accessible and I really, truly believe that he's channeling Van Morrison a bit here. And I don't care if no one agrees with me.
Patrick Sweany - Your Man
Ishmael and Matthew present: the best hour and a half of radio in Saskatoon. Every Wednesday from 10:30 to midnite the guys can be heard spinning some songs on Saskatoon's community radio station, CFCR 90.5 FM. Believe it.

SotW for May 28, 2008
Here's a song that's so beautiful, it'll be stuck in your head for weeks. Kate Maki, schoolteacher/musician from Sudbury is as soulful as... a soul?
I don't know. I don't normally do long preambles to the songs; that's Matthew's domain. From her album On High, the song is called Blue Morning. Here's the music already.

SotW for March 21st, 2008
I think I have a tendency to forget about some albums after a few months. The New Pornographers' album Challengers has almost been out for a full year but is still worth listening to. One of my favourite songs off the album was All the Old Showstoppers. It's a pretty typical Pornographers song: multi-layered, easy to like, hard to forget.
Please enjoy, download, and be merry.

Matthew's Finest
Well, I'm back on my unreliable posting schedule. I don't really enjoy being predictable, but I feel like it's what is expected of me, so I am forced to bow to the will of the masses.
My entry this week for World's Best Song is Creature's, Last Days of America. If you recognize the band, it's probably from their more well known song, Brigitte Bardot, but everything that that song delivers in the department of fast-rocking, hard-moving, knock-you-up-on-the-first-date accessability, this song delivers in the way of crazy S. It's a bit odd, and the fellow's voice is a bit eccentric, but somehow, it's an amazingly fun song.

Matthew's Finest
Well would you look at that. I was there this week and everything. Also I have a song for you.
Black Kids is a name that is uncomfortable to say on the air. I had terrifying visions of being run out of town on a rail, with people screaming bigot at me, but I soldiered on. I soldiered on because, gosh darnit, it's a good song, and not playing it would have been a disservice to all of you fine people.
Black Kids - Hurricane Jane

SotW for May 14th, 2008
This week's Song of the Week comes from the husband and wife team of Kori Gardner and Jason Hammel, better known as Mates of State. The two have just released their fifth album to generally positive buzz. Although I'm not too familiar with their stuff, My Only Offer from the album Re-Arrange Us seems like a catchy tune.
Consume and Enjoy!

Matthew's Finest
Here I am, communicating from beyond the grave. Those of you who are paying attention will note that I was barely on the show last week. Those of you who know me will take this as a cue to not expect my song of the week until the day before the following show. But I've decided to defy that contrived sentence and post it 2 days before this week's show.
The song I chose for this week is that hot tune from She & Him. The band is comprised of Zooey Deschanel, one of my more potent celebrity crushes, and some guy who doesn't even come close to realizing how lucky he is to be in a band with the lovely and
talented Ms. Deschanel.
The song is called Why Do You Let Me Stay Here? and it's a poppy upbeat little tune that will roll through your mind all damn day. It's an excellent song.

This week's Song of the Week comes all the way from Barrie, Ontario. Fox Jaws released their album Goodbye Doris to much critical acclaim and this week's offering is a great example of their sound. It is both fresh and sophisticated. Please enjoy Quarantine Girl:
