Playlist for April 28th, 2010

We've got a good show planned for you, including some very Carrribean cover fire. It's gonna be a crazy party. Also, if you're in town tomorrow (Thursday, April 29) head over to Louis' to check out Def 3 and Kay the Aquanaut [link]. It promises to be real.

All right homies, let's get down to some real shit. There was a sad passing last week that we forgot to mention properly on the show. Devon Clifford, the drummer for Vancouver band You Say Party! We Say Die! collapsed on stage and later died of a brain hemmorage a Vancouver hospital. A sad day for everyone on the Canadian music scene. The drummer is the backbone of any group and he kept YSP!WSD! going.

It's a damn shame.

This week we have an exciting shows. Lots of new music to preview, including a new release by Hamilton band The Rest that you can only get a physical copy of if you buy the accompanying novel. It's a crazy promo. Check it out.

Also, we have the debut of a brand new segment, Name that natural disaster. It promises to be irreverent.

Do us a favour and check out the blogs that we get the music from. They work hard so that our show doesn't suck and they know a lot more about indie music than we do anyway. Show them some love (hence the swan photo).

Playlist for March 24, 2010

This week's playlist has, purely by coincidence, a strong presence by musician/producer/magician Danger Mouse, whom you may remember as the skinny part of Gnarls Barkley.

You'll hear Danger Mouse's work in the song Little Girl (which features Julian Casablancas of the Strokes), in the new act Broken Bells (the other half of which is James Mercer, lead singer of the Shins), and in the brand new Black Keys album, which Danger Mouse produced.

That's kablamo!
