What interesting news could we possibly offer on the day the fabled Apple tablet computer finally came out? Steve Jobs must have really worked overtime to come up with the name iPad. Where does he get the inspiration to continue coming up with such great names for everything?

This week's music largely came from HeroHill, so if you want to skip this shitty blog and go straight to the source of great music, feel free.

Playlist for Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

We've got a pretty good show this week, but not great since Ishmael and I are both heading to a Student Press conference tomorrow for a weekend of illicit activities. But we do still have some interesting stuff for you.

Mostly, I 'm excited about the Toronto "super-group" Novels. They are formed by members from Tokyo Police Club, Born Ruffians, Will Curry and the Country French, and others. They're not really a band though, just an experiment. They formed and recorded an album and then planned to never sell it, promote it or even play a show. Their marketing strategy depends entirely upon people downloading the music for free from their website [okaynovels.com] and distributing it themselves. They've set up a gallery where you can post pictures of yourself sharing their album in new and inventive ways.

It's a really interesting project and it's the kind of thing that I hope we'll start to see more of in the future.

Playlist for December 23rd, 2009

Hey everyone, welcome to the Christmas eve-eve edition of Pants! Pants! Pants!

Despite our close proximity to the big day, we're going to refrain from actually playing too many Christmas songs. Just a few gems that I came across in the course of putting together today's show.

the Playlist:
In-Flight Safety - Fairytale of New York (feat. Jenn Grant)
The Very Sexuals - Finn
Deep Dark Woods - Sweet Maggie
Grizzly Bear - Easier
Frightened Rabbit - Snake
Great Bloomers - Find My Way
The Dudes - Don't Diss Christmas

Thanks to Matthew for putting the playlist together this week. My only contribution is this amazing video by Tommy Sparks. It has more eye and nipple lazers than is safe, but it's a great song.

The photo above shows that CFCR listeners aren't just artsy-fartsy types. They still care about the important things in life — like boobies. (Actually, I'm pretty sure the sticker is in support of breast cancer treatment, or something.) Also, If you have time, be sure to check out Ca Va Cool for their top songs of the decade this week.
